Ensure your SEO is optimized for SEO

I have had many conversations with clients this year about AI tools and the importance of authentic content on your website and preparing websites to be searchable by AI-assisted tools. Who doesn't love Google's little suggestion when you search? My problem is that its batting average is not great. I often see incorrect or misleading answers and wonder why better sites aren't referenced here.

I think it comes down to complacency in SEO. We have been happy with the set it and-it-and-forget- it model of hoping the long game will pay off. I think the opposite is true. AI is making is that we have to be more responsive and ontop of our SEO Keywords and website hygiene. Now, more than ever, it's time to put SEO at the top of your Marketing initiatives for 2025.

I am by no means an expert in SEO, but these are the things I am seeing and recommending to my clients:

Update Your SEO Keyword Research

AI tools and search engines are becoming increasingly sophisticated at understanding user intent, which means your SEO strategy needs to adapt. Follow these steps to refine your keyword approach:

  • Conduct Fresh Keyword Research: Use AI-powered tools to discover trending keywords in your industry. Focus on long-tail keywords and phrases that reflect conversational search trends.
  • Target User Intent: Categorize keywords by search intent—informational, navigational, and transactional—to align content with user needs. Many tools like Moz and SEM Rush have built this into their product offering at no additional cost.
  • Leverage Synonyms and Variations: AI algorithms recognize semantic relationships between words, so incorporate related terms and synonyms naturally into your content.

Regularly updating your keyword strategy ensures that your website aligns with the evolving queries AI systems process.

Once you have identified your keywords, integrate them into your website copy, headers and images.

Implement Schema Markup

Schema markup is a powerful tool that helps AI and search engines understand your website’s content better. Here are some tips for adding schema to your website from Neil Patel. Adding structured data allows your website to:

  • Appear in Rich Snippets: Provide more detailed information directly on search engine results pages (SERPs).
  • Enhance Visibility: Stand out in AI-driven voice searches and featured snippets.
  • Categorize Content: Help AI understand the context and purpose of each page.

Where you see this schema markup in action mostly is around:

  • Organization Schema: Highlight your company details such as name, address, and contact information.
  • Product Schema: Provide detailed product information for e-commerce websites.
  • FAQ Schema: Pair perfectly with a dedicated FAQ section (see below).

Use schema markup to ensure your content is easily accessible and interpretable by AI systems.

Add an FAQ Section Reflecting Search Trends

Following on the Schema updates would be the implementation of an FAQ section to provide direct responses to common user queries, making your website highly relevant for AI tools. To create a powerful FAQ section:

  • Analyze Search Queries: Identify frequently asked questions in your industry using tools like Google Trends and keyword research platforms.
  • Keep Answers Concise: Provide clear, to-the-point answers to each question.
  • Include Keywords: Incorporate your primary and secondary keywords naturally into your answers.
  • Use FAQ Schema: Apply structured data markup to ensure your FAQs are AI-friendly.

By addressing user questions proactively, your website can become a go-to resource for AI-driven searches.

Test Keywords in Real-Time with Automated Emails

To ensure your keywords resonate with your target audience, consider testing them in real-world scenarios. Automated email programs provide a perfect platform for this:

  • Integrate Keywords into Email Content: Use your identified keywords in subject lines, headers, and email body text.
  • Measure Engagement Metrics: Analyze open rates, click-through rates, and conversions to determine the effectiveness of your keywords.
  • Refine Messaging Based on Data: Use insights from email performance to tweak and improve your keyword strategy for both email campaigns and website content.

Testing keywords in real-time allows you to validate their effectiveness and ensure they connect with your audience before fully implementing them across your website.

Future-Proof Your Website Today

As AI becomes an increasingly integral part of users' interactions with the web, preparing your website to be AI-readable is no longer optional. By updating your SEO strategy, optimizing your pages, implementing schema markup, and leveraging an FAQ section, you’ll be well-positioned to thrive in 2025 and beyond.
